Assignment 2

Think about how to implement a virtual set.

No code is expected for this assignment - just e-mail me a text document describing (at a reasonably high level) how you would do it.

Identify the major problems that the task would entail, and give a general description of their solution.

Assume a setup similar to the upper two pictures in the slide from class 5. Actors stand in front of a blue screen; a tracking system attached to the camera reports the position & orientation of the camera to your software.

Some things to consider:

• How to do the blue-screen compositing in the computer, rather than with special video equipment.
• What if we want to be able to have some virtual objects appear in front of the actors, and others behind them?
• Would multiple cameras (to cut between) be a problem?
